Darren Qu — Network & Infrastructure Engineer based in China.
I have spent seven years designing, building and running networks — campus and WAN, hybrid cloud interconnect, wireless, firewalls, and the automation and monitoring that keeps them legible. Most recently I have gone deep on the fabric layer underneath GPU clusters: InfiniBand, RDMA, RoCE on lossless Ethernet, NVIDIA Spectrum-X and Cumulus Linux.
I work across the whole span rather than in one industry vertical. The problems change shape between a campus access layer and an AI training fabric, but the discipline does not.

What I work on#
- AI data center networking — InfiniBand fabric design, subnet management, routing engines, link-layer diagnostics; RoCE and congestion control on Spectrum-X; BlueField DPUs
- Hybrid cloud interconnect — dedicated lines and BGP peering to Alibaba Cloud and Tencent Cloud, IPsec/GRE backup paths, multi-region SD-WAN
- Enterprise infrastructure — campus switching and routing, 802.1X/NAC, wireless architecture, firewalls
- Automation and observability — network automation in Go and Python, SNMP, the Elastic Stack, Zabbix
